Another vote for Michelin Pilot Super Sports for where you live. Fantastic tires, excellent in the rain too, although probably not the best for spring/fall in Jackson Hole, WY. where I live. I think I'll probably put on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s this fall.

Want to buy some 235/40-18 and 275/35-18 Pilot Super Sports with 2000 miles on them?

Black ones! :) Just kidding, Pilot Super Sports for my S. I haven't tried anything else so I have no opinion. The Michelins seem like great tires and I have 5000 miles on a new set.

Like I keep telling my wife: It's like shoes - you have to have the proper ones for each occasion. For me it is:

Hoosier A6 for auto-x
Nitto NT-01 for dry track days
Conti DSW's for wet track days
Dunlop Star- Spec for street driving

Hankook V12 are nice and grippy for autocross and give plenty of audio feedback before letting go. They are amazing in the rain as well, better than the Michlin PS2 that the car came with, but may not last as long, but they are half the price so it works out well. I like having fresh rubber.

Another +1 for the Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs. I had the Michelin Pilot Sports originally but I prefer the Sumitomos. Excellent price and performance.

I just got a set.of the Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 2s. Hoping to get them installed later this week. I wanted to get the continental dw, but they were backordered with no expected delivery date.

I have the Michelin's and when they wear out will replace with the Simitomo III's. Had them on a previous car and loved them. Curious to see how they run on the S

Sumitomo HTR Z III. On the car when I bought it and I have put 7k on them since then. Tread still in excellent shape. No track, AutoX or extreme driving but daily driving including mild Winter (Never felt any driving on Marbles in sub 32's). Rain traction is excellent. I hope to get all season tires for this Winter, and use these through next Spring/Summer/Fall

Folks are just telling you what tires they are running. A lot of the suggestions on this thread are summer super high performance tires that trade road noise, harshness and wet traction for maximum dry grip.

Sounds like you want a summer performance tire, that is well behaved on the highway, doesn't wear too fast, and can handle the wet. Still a high performance tire. Research the Continental DW. (NOT the DWS which is a winter tire). I run them and would buy again.

I agree completely. There are no perfect tires that do everything well. Consider driving style carefully and choose a tire best suited for that use. For the OP, that might be PS2s, Super Sports, Hankook V12, Continental DW, Sumi HRTZ III.

Characteristics in common:

Good summer dry traction
Good wet traction
Quiet and comfy on the road
Reasonable tire wear
No good in snow or ice

Michelin Pilot Super Sports for a whole week now! Love then so far, smooth, quiet with lots of grip! I had Bridgestones before which I liked but the Michelin's made a noticeable difference in ride.

Anyone have experience with the Nitto Invo or NT05 ?

Spent time with both. NT-05 was not my favorite tire. Loud and melted off the back rims in 6 mos. I have a friend with a Z06 and he always runs Invos. They feel pretty good and he says they are good in the rain.

Yokohama Advan s4. No complaints

pilot super sports on '02 S after prior owner had dunlops which I didn't like very much & were pretty new on the back when bought (fronts were originals & old). Car is garage queen so I don't run in bad weather, but I think I'm getting ~ 50% more wear on the back than the dunlops & less sloughing / tire loss. Will get one of the michelin options when I replace the rears in the fall given performance of these beauties. Worth it imo.

Closest in feel to an R-compound tire I've had so far. Excellent value for the price. Pretty common tire for cars that are driven to DE/AX.
Coupled with a 20lb or less wheel and the grip level is hard to beat for a street tire that is actually decent in the rain. There is now a an RE-11S so the RE-11 is out.

Hankook V12's - getting better as the weather gets hotter! Approximately 1200 miles on them at this point. Experience includes moderately aggressive street driving, 2 AX's, 1 PDX...happy with purchase(so far). Comparing to Michelin Pilot Sport-no sessions.

Michelin All Season Pilot run flats. I have the run flats because I am diabetic and don't want to get stranded out in the country.
