Anyone Tried This Stuff?

3M has a spray-on paint protectant product "Paint Defender" now ArmorAll is getting into the mix with "Custom Shield" that comes in different colors. Products spray on and you can peel it off later when you get tired of it or want to replace it.

Exceptional Protection - Armor All Custom Shield Coating

3M Paint Defender Spray Film with synthetic wax - Sprayable Paint Protection Film, 90000 - 3M Auto

Have seen this on the market, haven't tried it yet, and am waiting to hear from other members...

Sort of like Plasti-Dip, which I have used before on the wheels of my kid's Acura.

I don't get it. But let me try:

You "paint" your car with this stuff and you drive around, let's say through the winter, and then come springtime, you just pull the stuff off? Is this the gist of it?

I wonder how easily it comes off after having been on there a while exposed to cold, snow, ice, and sun?

This is not new technology. In 1996 when I started working as a car prep tech for automotive commercials they would repaint new cars with "peel coat" paint so that 1 preproduction car could be photographed in different colors. When photography was complete for that model you can peel the paint off with your hands & sell as a new "Executive" car.

Duplicolor has a spray can with temporary spray on clear bra. It washes off. I have not tried this yet.

But wouldn't it still be a lot of work considering they would have to tape off all trims/logos, and basically treat it like a repaint? But that is interesting that it was done in 1996.

I have tried it. It tastes terrible and barely gets you buzzed at all.
