Garage floor coatings
 

I'm thinking of coating my garage floor to cover some stains & make it cleaner looking.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Rustoleum Epoxy works well, Butt no coating I know of will stick to stains. You may have to use a pressure washer to clean the floor 1st.

I put VCT (Vinyl Composite Tile) in over five years ago. It takes some effort to keep it looking good, but I enjoy it. I even bought a high speed buffer off of Craigslist.

Be careful with too smooth floors, leaking liquids will immediately cause a slip hazard. Don't try to paint the concrete, the paint won't stick for long and the floor will look horrible in no time. Maybe it is worth looking into staining your concrete, there seem to be some safe water based stains that would could give some interesting results. I have no experience with them, but since they are water based it could be that they won't work on an oil stained floor.
Easiest option is to just slosh a couple of buckets with Dawn soap on the floor, let soak in for 15 minutes and then use the power washer. Repeat a couple of times.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. And, I guess my years in the Army make me think that your spit-shined floor is really cool. I'm thinking of using red and gray to match my Guards Red Box. Buying the buffer seems a bit anal retentive -- exactly the kind of thing I would do.

I was a bit iffy on doing this with my ramps!!! How stable is this? Did you use planks to get the front up the ramps...can't believe you got the nose up there!!

I'm always paranoid with a car lifted like that. I put in 2 extra stands, and tuck the tires under for good measure.

The floor is too slick to drive on to the ramps, just pushes them. These are Ebsco jackstands, the best I have seen available @ Pelican. Jack from rear to install jackstands, then jack front up to install Rhino truck ramps. Sat like this for 6 months during engine rebuild.

Have professionals come in and do an epoxy coating. That's what I have. Figure about $5/sq.ft.

Got it ...a bit of brain fade on my part. Yeah I have the same exact stands and ramps as you. I have spit them out on concrete let alone a shinny floor like that!!! I recall that Rhino only allows/intends you to use them to lift by rolling up the incline which seems to me that this would be much more stress than gently lowering down on top of them like you have done....must be a liability statement

I think one if my ramps can take 2000 lbs

Did the angle of the car downward to the front help with engine / trans out and back in?

I like a little carpet in my garage. Nice and low but still just enough there to get traction and not hurt your knees.

I planned on pressure washing first. How does the Rustoleum hold up to dropped tools?

No problem with anything like that. I had to get the flat bottom type jackstands because the cheap pointed leg type crack the paint.
