I don't know that I completely agree with that. I got my 03S one year ago, and she only had 26,000 miles on her. It was meticulously maintained with all receipts, and I know and trust the previous owner (my parents ). In a year I have put on about 14,000 miles and have had zero problems of a mechanical nature. So the car went from about 2,000 miles per year to 14 or 15.

But I agree that you should see some records of the maintenance. Make sure the brakes were flushed every two years regardless of mileage too!
