Has the oil been changed 12 times since new? Records to prove it????

I don't know that I completely agree with that. I got my 03S one year ago, and she only had 26,000 miles on her. It was meticulously maintained with all receipts, and I know and trust the previous owner (my parents :D ). In a year I have put on about 14,000 miles and have had zero problems of a mechanical nature. So the car went from about 2,000 miles per year to 14 or 15.

But I agree that you should see some records of the maintenance. Make sure the brakes were flushed every two years regardless of mileage too!

For reference, I got $15k for mine:
2002 986S
92k Miles, New Engine at 50k Miles (IMS)
New Top w/ glass window, aftermarket touchscreen 2 DIN Navigation
Spec Boxster Suspension
18" Cayman wheels

Hi guys. I'm still shopping and I'm prepared to move "up market"

I would appreciate all your feedback about model selection, must have options etc.

I'm looking at this car: 2004 Porsche Boxster S

I spoke to the owner and will be checking the car out this weekend but yes, this car has a story. He's the third owner and says he has all the service records: *** NEW ENGINE INSTALLED BY PORSCHE DEALER in 2008 at 36,000 miles*** IMS HANDLED? Other issues? Do these things frequently need replacement at that low mileage? Thoughts, opinions?

PLEASE REVEAL YOURSELF IF THIS IS YOUR CAR! :)

Thanks guys, I sure appreicate your help and guidence.

Chris

$24k? Gimme a break!
You can get a 2002 996 for that kind of money!

I'd say $18k

Probably not. Thanks for the heads up; will review records carefully.

Porsche Carrera .

That Boxster is sucker pricing indeed. But 996's can be had for well under $20K as well. Saw a 2002 Cab go for $11k and it was well kept.

All non-GT3 996's are sinking fast. I've seen many 996 Turbos going for mid-30k's and they were not high mileage or beaten down nor were they private seller listings. And a ton of mint condition Turbos slightly above 40K.

Bluebook is out window with the market neck deep in Boxsters, Caymans, 996 and 997s.

I could settle for 6 changes (1 per year), but not less.
