Air Filter/Clean Panel for air box
Being as the box is already blessed with what is effectively a cold air intake system, and that a great many people hold the view that despite being slightly restrictive, doesn't do a bad job overall......
..... is there a decent panel to go in the airbox to replace the OEM item. In the past i have used K&N products but i am a little put off by their oily nature. Don't really want to start having MAF issues because of the oil etc etc. So - is it A) replace with the OEM, B) replace with K&N and pray or C) one of you guys is going to tell me a bout a fabulous oil free replacement that will boost my BHP, increase my intake roar, and weigh less (weight issue is purlely a bonus feature) ! ;) 2002 3.2s |
Personally I'd stick with a high-quality paper filter. The high-flow filters (such as K&N) also tend to let more dirt pass through, definitely no bueno.
I use Mann, Mahle, or Hengst filters in my cars. Thankfully the one time I ran a K&N panel filter (on a 2005 VW Beetle 1.8T) did not result in a fouled MAF sensor or engine problems. |
D,
Thanks for the response, kinda the way i am leaning |
BMC air filter is the way to go. i think they are better quality than the K&N .

Have had BMC for over a year. Apart from giving me a headache when trying to fit it.... No issues so far and intake noise is louder.
