Top has stopped working after cable replacement

Hi

I received my now cable to day and installed it, the old one was all chewed up and broken.

But now nothing happens with the roof.

The main symptom is that the windows do not drop when the latch is operated.

When I push roof up down with keys in on position and hand brake on no sound.

Fuses are good.

Windows drop when doors are opened.

Roof system was working when cable broke, so it should work now.

What should I look at?

Thanks for looking.

check the switches at the latch

+1 on the switch, and make sure e-break is pulled.

yeh, i have made sure the ebrake was on. Is there more than one switch?

Roof light on dash is on like it never completely closed maybe.

Thanks

90% of the issues with the top not working, has to do with that darn switch ( located under the latch).
Easy to confirm.
Close the lunch and make sure the dors are closed.
Turn ignition on or start the car.
Open the latch.
If the windows don't drop, it's the switch.
Try to stick you finger in there an press the switch. In some cases it might work.

Just to confirm.
You replaced the cable that goes from the motor to the transmission.
Correct?

binkoba 03-28-2013 07:05 PM

yes transmission to motor cable of which there are two.

Looking at the Bentley book alectrical diagrams, it should be another switch on one of the transmissions. This is basically the switch that turn the light on and off when the top reaches its final position.
However, I don't remember seeing any wires going into the transmission, so maybe someone allse can chime in.
I will try to post the circuit diagram later today.

looking at the manual i figured out i simply forgot to reconnect the plug to the transmission. All fixed I hope.

One side of the clamshell sits up a little though
