I lost a screw...
So I dropped one of the T20 screws that connects the tension wire to the convertible top frame behind the rollbar. I received a parts break down from Pelican parts but I can't find the part. I took the screw to Home Depot but can't find a match.
Here's the link to the break down of all Porsche cars (at least from what I can tell): Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic Information - Porsche Service - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG You pick your car, then download the PDF or view it online. Anyone know what the part number of the screw is or the thread size/count is? Thanks, tw |
Go sit at the parts counter of your dealer and have a look at the drawings on their system. You should be able to find it.

You didn't say what year your car was....
Is it bolt #20 in this pic? 999 591 941 40 http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/top1364403688.jpg |
Heiko, My apologize it's a '99 and I don't think part #20 is it, but I could be wrong. I need the screw that goes through item number 2 on the end toward the rear of the car. The screw has a locking washer on it, maybe Porsche calls it an expander nut.
DFW02S, I'm afraid that is my next stop. Thanks for the input. tw |
Part 20 looks like this.... part# 999 591 941 40
Not sure if this looks like the screw you lost http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1364414488.jpg |
It looks like the correct screw. I'll have to look at the car and see if the insert can be removed. I'll probably stop by the dealer and see if they can verify the screw.
thanks, tw |
That screw/insert is for the leather apron attached to the rear main tension bow. It's made of plastic. I don't have the part drawing handy at the moment but I will try to look it up for you later today.

Well I couldn't find the part number either, I thought I had it somewhere. Rather than Home Depot, try an ACE hardware store. I have one close to me that has a much better selection of metric fasteners than HD.

+1 with Ace hardware. Fasteners galore!

... the part number is that of part 20 in the blowup below (999 591 941 40)... I would put a regular screw in there for now and if you happen to drive by a dealer pick one up... I'm thinking a buck or two is all they are (if you must have the stock screw).
