Wheel offset question? Please help

Hi guys, I have an 02 boxster and was looking to update my wheels. I've seen a set for sale off a 06. The wheels are 17" front 6.5x55, rear 8x40. Wiil they fit my car without the need for spacers?

The short answer is yes. However, the sizes seem off. Are you sure they're not 17 x 7 or 7.5 and 17 x 9 ?

Thanks, I'll double check the size when I see them but that's what the guy told me on the phone. He said they were on a 06 boxster

6.5' front and 8' rear seems awfully narrow, even for a 17 ?

They come with tires, I'll just throw them on. Whats the worst think that could happen?

Probably nothing. I'm guessing that you have the specs wrong. Hopefully a member who's running oem 17's will chime in.

16 is awfull small for that car.It will easily accommodate 18 stock or similar. Go to wikipidea an check what was stock, calculate offsets. You can quite easily add +12 mm to back and +7 to the front.
