Does a 2001 Boxster `S` have a canbus system

About to order a HiD set and dont want to order the wrong ones or additional equipment
Do i need the canbus ballast jobbies or just regular ones?

Think i am going to go for the VVME ones...they seem to have a good report about them
does anyone know a good seller

Hi Pete,

As i understand it (bearing in mind i only have medium intelligence) Porsche did not really start using the protocol until after 2006. The wiring and some of the support technology started appearing from 2001 onward but current didn't flow until after 2002 with the change really occuring around 2006?

I could be wrong though?

I've used the VVME ones in the past. Plus a couple of other brands. Even with a CANBUS add-on there can be issues with the 35 watt HID systems on any car that actually monitors the bulbs. I'll just sum up a recommendation form past experience and suggest you use a 55 watt HID system. Much fewer issues with startup and computer related issues.

And if you do decide to look at the 35 watt systems anyway, take a gander at the newer mini-HID systems. They are smaller and thinner than the usual 35 watt HID systems and most importantly have a very very short set of cables. I looked at them for potential installation inside of the light.
