Can't see the nameplate with spoiler up. Looks like a Porsche Thingo....

Truth. IMHO, the plate is kind of douchey...it just seems like its trying too hard.

You're not driving around with the spoiler up all the time are you?

Well it looks much better than the standard plate and I bought it for resell value. Yeah I keep the spoiler up, why?

Your asking me why? So assume we both know it serves no function below highway speeds. Do you think it looks cool to drive around town with the spoiler extended?

It's all about personal taste. You asked for opinions. I don't care for vanity plates unless they're really clever. I also think that form should follow function which is why it seems odd to drive around with the spoiler hanging out when it was clearly designed for function only. The car has beautiful lines, Porsche likely made the spoiler retractable for that reason.

What matters is that you like your vanity plate and your always erected spoiler. Have fun with it! Didn't mean to offend.

I actually thought this was going to be one of 'THOSE' forums. I see alot of people on here with the additional spoilers and they serve no purpose.
The plate sets it a bit different from the others although there is not that many about in oz to be fair.

PS I am feeling the 986 is very dated especially the interior in comparison to the 987

My license plate is simply "PORSCHE" and I can tell you it gets a lot of very positive attention. I love it -- even if you do think it's douchy (whatever that means).

I think that when you are asking for opinions on a forum you are likely to get a lot of responses and likely you will not agree with them all. For instance the Porsche 1 lic. plate is well let's put it this way showey. If that is what makes you happy go for it.
I think the spoiler up all the time is boyracer look. If that is what makes you happy go for it. I keep everything standard on my Box and don't like to draw attention to myself or my car. But that is just me.....

Whatever floats your boat! I like the plate but the spoiler has to go down.

Is it too duchey to use the Porsche plate holder, but with a non-standard plate?

I was just wondering what the cut-off was. Thanks.

I agree that the 986 interior is dated by today's standards and lacks durability by any standards. Check out this thread I started about how I'm trying to improve my 02 S in that area. Others have chimed in as well.

I am sorry if I offend you. I guess I could have been more gentle in my delivery.

I will say that there is one Porsche in my home town with a plate I like; it simply reads "nien 11". I thought that was clever...

Plate - cool. Spoiler up all the time - not so cool. Just my opinion, do what ever you like.

If you like something to make the rear look more sporty, maybe consider something like this:

Spoiler up is definitely not classy. You can put it up when you park, but when you're driving... it doesn't even look that great!

As to the license plate... We drive Boxsters, not 911s. And as much as we love our cars, advertising "Hey I'm in a Porsche!" just seems a bit much to me.
