code for radio??
I disconnected the battery this weekend and as a result the radio wants a code. any ideas short of a dealer assist to get this figured out? I am a relatively new boxster owner and the car did not come with an owners manual - I need to find one for a 98 Boxster - love the car - has 83.5K miles & runs great!!

I think there's a guy on the Renntech forum that provides radio codes.

Reference your need to find your radio's code
1. Go to Renntech at this web address: RennTech.org Forums 2. You may need to join the forum. 3. Scroll down to the 986 section, specifically 986 Series. You will see Lost Radio Code - Post Your Request Here. Click on that link and provide your radio serial number. 4. Loren will give you one or two possible codes. 5. When I purchased a replacement CDR-220 (I only paid $85.00, but it did not come with the code), I used Renntech and Loren provided the code. Good Luck MNC-I 1999 Boxster w/182,000 miles |
Thanks for the info - do I need to pull the radio out to get the serial number?

Porsche Resetting Radio Codes
Go to that page and run the java app - it will tell you how to get your serial number to come up on the radio display screen and then you enter it into the app - it will give you your code instantly. On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a .5 for SUPER EASY :) |
awesome - thanks!!

Often times, the selling dealership will write the number under the front trunk/hood with a magic marker.I found that to be the case on my 2000 S.
