What year is your Boxster??

Hit the poll!

This will be interesting...

CoBeerToad 03-01-2013 12:45 AM

C'mon! I've been reading this board for a few months. I know I'm not only one who owns a '97

Soetekouw 03-01-2013 05:22 AM

This being a 986 forum will likely get more hits than the 987. I have a 2007.

Coffinhunter 03-01-2013 06:17 AM

dunno why, but the fact that there are so many 01's surprises me.

I'm just glad I got the rear glass

I have an '01 with an '03 top (and an '03 tail lights and '03 Carrera Wheels). I wish I had your glove box. :D

dghii 03-01-2013 07:37 AM

What year is which Boxster? Got two, poll only allows one vote.

Sorry. Didn't think of that. Sign your kids up or your wife!

OldBlevins 03-01-2013 12:23 PM

Mine is a 2000. It looks good (thanks to all the tips I've gotten on this forum) and people can't believe it's 13 years old.

oc-boxster 03-01-2013 02:07 PM

2002, best year, with no glove box or glass window

AKnowles 03-01-2013 03:06 PM

When I think of all the modifications and/or additions I've made or want to make ... it makes me think I should just buy another one. :)

Barteur 03-01-2013 05:49 PM

Mine is a 99

com3dorm3 03-01-2013 07:06 PM

Mine is timeless :D

Like all forums, there are so many lurkers on here, it's ridiculous. Have you checked the stats? Plus, a lot of people check back to see the results, I know I do.

Cool poll, thanks!

paintboy 03-03-2013 07:38 AM

my 1998 is the best ever made.

Marburk 03-03-2013 09:25 AM

I've got a 2003 and I already hit the poll.

Very interesting survey.......Looks like almost a perfect bell curve centered around the 2001 model year. Wonder why that year is the most popular?

No kidding! 25%?? Was not expecting that.

RandallNeighbour 03-03-2013 10:08 AM

Id like another poll asking if you had a 2000 or up, was it a base or S...

There is another poll underway asking about Base vs. S model ownership but it's not specific to model year.

cas951 03-03-2013 11:29 AM

This is really interesting. 2001 seems to dominate.

I have both an 08 and 02 but I can only vote once and voted as 2008.

Since this is a 986 forum, where are the 987 owners go. Rennlist & 6speedonline don't have much activity and Planet 9 do have some Boxster activity but focused more on Caymans.

Well being the generous type and knowing you like the color of mine I'm willing to trade and relieve you of the embarrassment of having the newest Boxster. But only because you've already switched to clear side markets. :D

I KNEW those side markers would pay off one day! :D

Simple. Boxster Sales were highest in 2001. Look at the sales for the first year Boxster for trivia. Interesting.....

Great post! More than twice as many were made in 01 than in 04! They really seemed to peak out.

NoGaBiker 03-04-2013 08:55 AM

Awesome chart on sales. Any chance an up-to-date version with 987-era sales could be had as well? My google searches haven't turned up anything like this.

TIA

pothole 03-04-2013 02:05 PM

Blimey. Didn't know Boxster sales ever got that high. Nearly 30k in one year.

Suspect even with the new 981 out they aren't anywhere near that high currently.

Think the 911 has been generally on the slide the last three or four years, too.

Sales of the sports car models are, I suspect, in slow long term decline. The big growth markets (China! etc) don't go for sports cars.

runjmc2 03-05-2013 10:32 AM

From my VIN, I believe my '97 was within the first one thousand made...

How does a VIN tell you that? Which digits are they?

986_c6 03-06-2013 12:02 AM

1st Gen rocks!!!!

runjmc2 03-06-2013 12:06 PM

The last 6 digits should be the sequence for that year.
