Base or S?

Piggybacking on the year poll, I am curious about the model split by the posters here.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for.
Will this help?
Porsche Boxster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I believe most car manufacturer has model splits.

Porsche Boxster - Boxster S and other variants. RS60, Spyder, Design Edition etc
Not to mention the 911 variants out there. I think they have 15 or 16 models.

Other Mfg:
Mustang = V6, GT, Boss 302, Cobra
Camaro = V6, SS, LT1?
Lexus = IS250, IS350, ISF

It's all about a car that can accamodate everyones budget and needs.

Economy, accesories, power, handling and how much you're willing to spend to get what you want.

In the end, we settle for what we can purcahse at that time and do our own mod to make it more appealing and more powerful in one way or another.

I have the 2.5L but if I had known every tom dick and harry were going to try and race me every time they see me I would have saved up the extra cash for the Boxster S and shown these monkeys how to play properly.

It's so true, isn't it?

Next time, I'm getting launch control .

It's a nightmare in my younger days I would have raced them now I just sit back and let them pass me hoping there's a cop just around the corner.

Unfortunately that doesn't really happen around here. But I agree, best to just let them fly by.

Maybe with Toyota's but not Porsche's. Many Boxster owners could purchase much more car without hesitation.

Agreed, and likely will... My 02 S was sort of an impulse purchase. I like cars that are easily paid for out of my bank account. If I was less frugal and or wanted to use financing (it's hard to resist at today's rates), I'd be driving something much newer.

I agree with this 100% but the one time last fall when the roads were dry I made a rocket launch and after I came to a stop at the next red light I smelt the clutch burning up. It was easy to smell and highly recognizable. I won't do it again because I am sure it is hard on the clutch.

Oh yes 2.7 l is enough for me.

+1 on this. Not to mention the Boxster is not really a straight line racer. But losing a guy on the corner.....That is fun!

2.7 baby! Everything is always sorted out at the track, and respect is given where it is due. Boxsters hold their own pretty well, S or non.
