Quick oil change question.
Im looking to change my oil shortly. I have the oil filter and o ring for the filter. Does the drain plug crush ring need to be changed? If so does anyone on this board have a extra one they would sell?

new crush washer
FWIW... I've used new washers only if they were supplied with the filter. Most of the time I've reused the washers. However, I paint a thin layer of fingernail polish (the wife's old stuff) on the drain plug's threads as a sealent. Just tighten the plug to the proper torque - no drips, no weeps. It is not that I am cheap; it is just convenient.

The crush washer is readily available at the dealer, if I remember correctly something like $0.50 to $1. When I bought with the oil filters on-line it was ~$0.25.

What's the best color? :D |

Whatever she no longer uses. Let's see... Base Coat, Platinum, Rosetta Rumba (those go on the drain plug so no one can see them), and Denim Chrome (which is also a good match for the blue on the license plates. |
I like the sound of "Rosetta Rumba". I'll see if I can pick some up for my wife. Maybe she won't like it and I'll get to use it ! ;) :D
Seriously, finger nails polish really works as a sealant? |

I've used nail polish for about 20 years both as a sealent and as a "LokTite". Just remember to insert the drain plug while the polish is still wet. |
