1998 Boxster instrument cluster problems

Hi Guys.

I need help. My instrument cluster illumination lighting have stopped working. I'm trying to trace the problem. Only illumination not working. everything else works great. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for that area or know the color of the wiring providing power to the lights?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Before you start tracing wires...

1. Check fuse .
2. Twist the dimmer knob back and forth a few times in case you have dirty contacts.
3. Same for headlight switch...
4. Anything else weird happening? When was last time ignition switch replaced? My Boxsters have exhibited strange symtoms that were cured by a new ignition switch. From radio not working sometimes, to AC blower not blowing, to interior light that would not go out...

Thanks.

I have checked fuse and jiggled the dash light dimmer and light switch. Ignition switch was replaced a year ago.

Before I start pulling things apart it would be great to have a wiring diagram of the area. Does anyone have a diagram available?

I sent you a private message. I have an 01 diagram if that helps. I think copyrigt prevents me from posting directly in the forum.

98 instrument cluster

I do not want to disrupt the flow of this conversation but I am new to this forum and am still figuring out my way around so I apologize in advance if I am stepping on anyone's toes.
I have a 98 5 speed Boxster that the instrument cluster konked out on; fuel gauge stuck on half full, speedo inop, tach inop, no lights, no time just dead. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks for any help
