White smoke

Hi all,

Just been out for a drive in my 2001 boxster s and as I was in 3rd accelerating a huge puff of white smoke flew out of the exhaust. Stopped immediately and have been towed home. Looking at possible causes it seems it could be air/oil separator. I have only had the car for a month or so and on looking through previous invoices this was changed 2 years ago. Would it be problem again or cold it be something more sinister and therefore more expensive?
Thanks guys and any help or advice would be great.:barf:

The AOS is easy to check; start the car and let it idle, try and remove the oil filler cap. If it is very difficult to get off, due to high vacuum, the AOS is gone.

White smoke is traditionally steam, meaning you could haave a cracked head , gasket or cylinder allowing coolant (half water) into combustion chamber.

One way to tell is to run it, put your hand behind the exhaust pipe and in less than minuet, you may have water droplets in the palm of your hand. Probably a better way is have a mechanic do a leak down test.Dosn't require running the motor.

AOS is another fair bet. Read below.
