Porsche Alarm

When my Alarm goes off, instead of an 'alarm' noise, the horn sounds. Is this normal on the Boxster. IS it different than the actual car horn, and can it be replaced so that when the alarm sounds it is actually an alarm and not a retro horn :)

My alarm's the horn (2003). I'm sure there are aftermarket alarm systems with their own noise-maker. I bet this one's loud:

I just want to replace the noise maker, am pleased with the current porsche alarm apart from the horn. Is the alarm horn the same as the one on the steering? The alarm one sounds much louder.

The alarm horn is separate from the steering wheel horn so you could replace the alarm horn with a different sound device if desired.

This thread has a good discussion: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/36595-boxster-s-alarm-keeps-going-off.html

I love the sound of a Porsche horn, it's so classic.

I locked my car, force of habit, at an autocross once. Top was down, and hubbs wanted to get something out of the glove compartment, so he tried to open the door. Alarm went off, and everyone stared. He wasn't too pleased with that one.

But, no, it's not very loud.
