You just saved me a trip to my basement...don't use that crapp...that is the stuff that made my squeal. I complained to AdvanceAutoParts, told them it suckked. It dries like rubber, really weird. Scrap it off and put the stuff on I gave in my last post.

OK - I didn't use it, so that's good. So that stuff, I basically just put it on the back of the brake pads right? (The part not touching the rotor?) Or where exactly?

Thanks again!

On the part that touches the piston...the back...yes please not on the rotor side..please...we don't like to lose members :)

Ha, :D

Any chance the noise may stop after a few hundred miles by itself?

I also have some 3M brake cleaner I can try and spray in there, bad idea?

Guys guys... what are you lubing with that stuff??? There are no slide pins to lube on Brembo calipers. I put a tiny bit of WD on the retainer pin so it slides easily in place. No other lube products which tend to collect dust.

Nothing is dirty, I never needed the stuff, keep things rinsed well when i wash. You can drive around squealing for 300miles if you want...never know stranger things have happened. Me I couldn't stand it, it was LOUD. My point is it won't hurt anything...will it go away...donno.

I do have Mintex, the red box ones - got them from pelican.

Yes, Mintex pads to fit Porsche (Brembo 4 piston) calipers. No lube needed here.

Works for me :), but that Red CRC crap causing squealing and needs to go...I haven't wrenched for 40years but my personal experience is it squealed on my Boxster. Of course now I have Akebono, put them in dry and all is good and dust free on all three cars.

Rondo,
Carefully bed in your pads per Mintex instructions, continue driving the car for another 5-10 minutes to cool the brakes and park it overnight. This tends to eliminate 90% of brake pad vibration and squeal issues by bonding pad material to the rotors. If you still have squeal, you can pull the pads and put a 45% bevel on the leading edges to quiet them.

So I have the Balo rotors and Mintex pads, and my god are they noisy as anything I've ever heard! Basically from 40mph on down, they start to make extremely loud squealing noises, that sound metallic.

Now, nothing was initially put behind them. I picked up some Wurth's anti squeal, and I going to have to apply it to them.

Should these pads not need anything? Or is it normal to need some anti squeal behind them?

rondocap 02-23-2013 07:25 PM

I wonder if another brand rotor and pad can be installed out of the box without noise, and without having to put any anti squeal in the back? After nearly 800 miles, they definitely did not break in or get better!
