Has Anyone Installed an FVD Multi Adjustable Short Throw Shifter? $700
Reading past postings on SSK, I came across the FVD unit. Yeah, it is pricey at $700. But, does anyone have one or experience with one? Is it good?

No firsthand experience , but you can be assured that anything FVD offers is good .

Looks interesting...at $700 I will have to wait for the chinese clones to appear...jk.

i think it's the same as the unit made by numeric racing?

I think Kroggers has that unit or something similar.

Anyone else think of this when they saw the shifter?

I posted this on the Rennlist 996 forum and got some good feedback. The FVD unit above is manufactured by Numeric and sold by retailers with their name on it.
A better option may be to go with a 997 SSK (997 424 983 00), or a 997 GT3 stock unit (read not SSK) (997 424 010 91). The GT3 console has billet aluminum bushings whereas the 997 SSK has plastic bushings. These units are several hundred dollars less that the Numeric units. As with most things, there are a lot of opinions out there. The one opinion that is consistent is that either of these units will be a huge improvement over what we have now. I'll continue my homework and let you know what I end up with. Not sure how other components compare, but the B&M SSKs come with metal bushings as well.

Compared to what I had before it feels much better, but that is not a true track test... |

After doing a lot of reading on the web I elected to go with a stock 997 unit. I figured I will start out there and work my way up if I am not happy with it. I was looking for smooth shifting over a short shift. From all my reads, the 997 shifter will do this.
On a side note, I have exchanged several emails with Dan at Numeric Racing. What a nice guy. Not a salesman, an engineer with a passion. Neat guy. The reviews of his shifter are over the top. The ones that have bought them, love them. A lot of high end Porsche owners have installed them. |

i have the TS SS kit that i got for 50$. love it but i think i can get better results with the 997 one. wasn't aware of that option back in the day. |
I just installed a 997 SST . It feels more solid and seems to weigh twice as much as the original. The movement is smoother and measured 3 inches compared to 4.625 for the original, however I haven't had it out of the garage yet! I paid $341 at Sunset porsche:dance:
