Finally, clear side markers!
First of all, I appreciate all the help I've been given through this forum. I finally replaced the orange side markers with some clear ones I found at Suncoast. I've also placed a carbon license plate holder and some black center caps on the tires. I'm dreaming about carbon fibers mirrors and side air vents but they appear to be a little too expensive.
Any other advice or potential modifications for my Boxster? Thanks, Justin R. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1358034325.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1358034383.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1358034446.jpg |
Looks fantastic as is !

Those clear side markers look so much better! ;)

For so cheap and easy to install, I have never seen anything produce such an improvement in looks as the clear side markers.

Car looks perfect with the new clear lights. What year is your car
? |
Wow, I like those clear side marker! How hard is that to do? It's not something I can do (I was pretty impressed with myself when I changed my valve stem caps) but does it seem like the dealer would charge a lot?
Also liking the wheel caps, is that difficult? Can anybody tell me where to buy these things? I am well practiced at purchasing things. :) Very cool results all around! |

you just pull it out, twist the lamp, and put the new one. the side marker is held in place by a tab on one end, and a metal clip on the other. it is just a matter of taping it to lock in place. assuming you own a 986, this is the part you will need: Amazon.com: porsche boxster side marker. edit: just noticed you own a 09. this is the part: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=porsche+boxster+987+side+marker&rh=i%3Aap s%2Ck%3Aporsche+boxster+987+side+marker |
found this for you.
How to change side markers on a Porsche 911 - YouTube just watch your fingernails ;) |
Meir-- that's awesome, I'm thinking I could do that!
Wouldn't that freak everyone out? I'm not sure if my 2009 is a 986 or a 987. I'm leaning toward 986.2, because of all the changes Porsche made in 2009. |

and no one will freak out. sometimes my wife helps me work on my car. she has very good technical skills and sens for details. |

But, yeah, it would freak out everyone at my house. Which means I must do it. :D Your wife is a saint for helping you work on your car, don't let her go! |

I found them quite easy on eday Just search "LED side Repeaters Boxster"
As I live in Wales (UK) I think the poastage would cost more Thanks a new set. Guvs. |
thanks! found it. are they easy replacements? plug and play? I assume they do not blink with turn signals, but just on when lights are turned on..correct? are you happy with them?

In the UK we don't have permanent amber side lights, ours are off until you turn your indicator on then they flash in time with the other indicators. http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...repeter008.jpg http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...repeter010.jpg Guvs |
Thanks for the positive comments.
I'm a complete noob and I was able figure theses out with a little help (side markers) from my father in law. My car is a 2009 Boxster Non-S. Stupid question coming: What does de-ambered mean?
Thanks, Justin R. |

unless your name is JD, and then it has all different meaning. |

However they did have an internal amber cover inside the light cluster for the indicators that you could see if you caught the Boxster in a certain angel and light on it. http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...tchecks002.jpg sorry about the Grandson, that's his preferred seat in the Boxster and it is the best photo where you can see the amber lens cover inside the light cluster on a 986 face lift to get rid of this someone called it "Amberectomy" I did an "How to" on our UK forum. http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...Dlights008.jpg http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...mbering005.jpg Link here if you are planning on doing it. http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=47899&page=4 Guvs. |
Just wondering??????
Why do posters almost always distort or block out their license plate numbers when posting car photos on a forum???
The car is used on public streets, right? Don't people see it all the time on the streets? If anyone would like to know my license plate number, I'll be glad to post it here. Without loosing any sleep. |
