Transmission Gear Whine: Not anymore

When I bought my used boxster I thought it had a rather pronounced gear whine from the transmission. However, once I replaced the PO installed Sony radio and dropped a noise filter in the mix I found the gear whine had gone away. So, I guess my radio install was free since it saved me a $1000.00 or so in a planned attempt to track down the whine and fix it!

Thinking that you can get away from the Boxster gods for nothing is wishful thinking. That $1000 already has its name on another part of the car, you just don't know it yet.

Very cynical, but oh so true!

Well, in all honesty I expect to sink a lot more than $1000 in to it. There is soooo much you can do to it I'm afraid I won't know where to stop. I already am looking at the Lintronic lights (used), and there are front-end options, rear-end options, top options (want glass), interior options, and even ... possible engine replacements or upgrades (gasp).

What to do first (aside form the basic maintenance - air filters, oil changes, etc.)?

Ah, I know, I'll just drive it around and enjoy it and if nothing breaks well I can alwys buy one of the available options to giv e me something more to do.
