The Gold Plated Porsche - How I Sank a Small Fortune into a Used Car

My wife bought me a book for my birthday a few days ago titled "The Gold Plated Porsche - How I Sank a Small Fortune into a Used Car and Other Misadventures".

I wonder if she's trying to send me a message?

After I get over the hump of letting her know that I bought a Porsche, I will make sure that she never learns of this book...

I read the book and it is a riot! I later talked with the author and he now drives a Boxster.

When I was 18, my Dad put a stop to my plans for buying a 1959 Convertible D for $1800. He said I could buy it, but I couldn't park it at our house. Porsche 356 Convertible D

His reasoning was that if I bought the car, I would fool around with the car instead of studying. Although he was probably right, I remind him that proceeds from selling the car today would put my daughter through college.

When I heard the Gold-Plated Porsche, I bought it for him as a Christmas present.

Stephan Wilkinson was my wife's client at the publisher - I spoke with him on the phone a couple of times about the book. Nice guy.
