Project plans for Holiday week?
 

I'm guessing a lot of us are off next week. Anyone have project plans for their Boxster or any twisty runs planned?

Vacations at home cost me a lot of money because I always skip buying the new carpet and instead buy something totally unnessary for my car but that will please me doing the work and then the enjoyment of driving after the project.

My project is a cat back Fabspeed for the 986 coming tomorrow. I'll provide pictures and details of the project as I do it...oh and yes be totally honest if I'm pleased with all the money I spent.

I'd like to do the rear wishbones before I get it aligned but not sure that is in the cards.

Probably will work on the wiring a little more on the 997 seats I put in the car two weeks ago.

Hoping the mountains don't get snow so I can take a run too.

I am working next week, Wednesday through Friday. We have the 24th and 25th off.

The Boxster has been in deep sleep since mid-October, in my off-site storage facility. I won't see her until late April.

I take a peak at the 993 Turbo, since she's at home in the heated garage, every once in a while, but ya can't see much:

I'll have her out in late March if all the salt is rinsed off the roads.

The Turbo looks very comfy...sad to see them have to sleep so long. It's warm enough here all winter to drive but sometimes they expect ice storms and put all that liquid salt on road and it makes the car turn white so I wait until after a good rain washes it away.

Its top down season here in Florida,so I'm just going to drive and drive, hopefully won't have to wrench. But if I have to, so be it. I may do some cosmetics, its time for some wax.

I hope to install a short shifter in my 01 base. The unit I purchased from the auction site should arrive today or tomorrow.

Unfortunately, family and social obligations always seem to interfere with car time!

Your right, last week was pretty muggy.But this week has been nice.

Have fun with the wrenches.

Going to be changing out the front brake pads and sensors this weekend. Got a rear wheel bearing starting to growl a bit. Will probably tackle that later this winter.

I'm going to be finishing/installing a CF GT3 console delete piece, then changing trans oil in the 986...then brake flush on the wife's X3... then water pump/t-stat+trans fluid+diff fluid+brake flush on my 325i.
It's going to be a dirty, busy vacation!

Might tackle replacing the water pump and adding a low temp thermostat. No major issues but with 120K on the odometer it seems like a good idea. Still trying to decide if I want to DIY this or have the local shop do it for me.

Clutch started going out right at the tail end of the driving season. 78k on a 1997. So it looks like it's time for the clutch / IMS / RMS repair. Wanted to tackle it myself, but my garage space is limited and I'm a bit scared to tackle the IMS on my own, so off to the dealership it will probably go.

I'm kind of thinking that if my IMS hasn't broke by now, it's probably all good, but I would be really pissed if I went that far and didn't go that extra step and I killed the car.

No boxster projects over the holidays. Just studying for the securities exam (series 7). :(
