Axle falling off

Has this happened to anyone? Axle fell from tranny for the second time this morning

Nope.

When axles are installed, you need to have clean threads, apply loctite and torque to spec.

After about 500 miles, it's not a bad idea to recheck torque.

I had my axles out to R/R CV Joint boot about 18 months ago and have not had an issue.

Did they fall off, or was it a disagreement and they are trying a trial separation?

Sorry, trying a little bit of levity on a not so good situation.

when you push the bolt through the cv and into the flange it picks up all kinds of grease. run a cloth through the opening a few times until it comes out clean, then don't move the cv too much so that no additional grease squeezes in there.

Did they all unthread? I is possible One or more of the holes got egg shaped if it flopped around. Twice all mine sheared I had to drill them and easy out the remains. Use degreaser on the holes and screws. Like Radium King said clean the through holethen install them with a good thread locker Loctite. There is not much space good luck.

One of the bolts broke. The rest of them were actually clean with no damage at all. Threads screwed in perfectly and everything. Very strange.

afternarket cv cap or oem? i bought a jobber axle once and the cv cap didn't mate properly with the flange.

Mine backed out on the driver side axle a few months after I did a rear suspension job. Thankfully was at the entrance of my neighborhood, was leaving a stop sign and heard a pop, and the car wouldn't go anywhere (open differential). I pushed the car back, walked back to my house, loaded up a few tools in my race car, then drove down the street and fixed the axle right there. Was late to work by only an hour or so.

@MConte05,

Using a Race Car to fix your daily driver, that's fresh!

Shoudda taken the race car to work! I can hear the excuse now, "But officer my Porsche broke down and I had to take this!"

That is provided the cop could catch you! ;)

I would have! Except... I wrecked the rear end of the car at the last rally (tapped a tree ever so slightly) and both taillights were busted out. Soooo, wasn't exactly street legal. ;)

trees and rallys? two words I don't like close together.

Makes me think of Kubica.
