Stiff pedal-soft pedal

My 2002 S has 87000 miles and an assumed original clutch-since I've owned it the clutch pedal has been pretty stiff to depress but isn't slipping at all-now as of yesterday the pedal is very light and required about half the effort to depress, any ideas?

Check clutch master and/ or slave cylinder.
