can 08 boxster/cayman have LN ims ?

I've been reading where LN bearings can be a proactive fix for the ims problems. also been reading where the engine was somewhat changed in 05. can the proactive LN fix be used in 08 vintage cars?

Yes, there is a version for that year. However, your engine's design requires the entire engine to be removed from the car and disassembled to the point where the block halves can be broken apart to exchange bearings. Serious effort. It will cost around $4200.

In previous versions of the engine, the repair only requires the trans and clutch to be pulled and the bearing can be extracted out of the back of the engine with the engine intact still in the car. Much less labor, hence the $2K cost.
