New Porsche owner and new to forum

Wanted to say hello to you all. I have been the proud owner of boxster since two months ago. Bought a used 2004 Boxster S, but still in mint condition (only 5000 km -- not sure how many it is in miles).

I had a chance to check out the 2004 Corvette, but after test driving the Boxster I never looked back :)

I read the posts in this board and found that they are very helpful. You guys know a lot about cars

Welcome! Best of luck with your new S. It is truely a great car. Much different than the Corvette. Post some pics when you get a chance!

threpwood, nice car!!........wait.......   is that a tiptronic on a S?
 why?? do****************e?

just kidding  nice ride, how is it driving on the left side over there? both the car and the road? women must love that car there. enjoy.

ps. just curious, how much did you pay for that car? i know used foreign cars depreciate quite quickly over there, but i dont know about the porsche? enlighten us and explain to us WHY you got a tiptronic. and you cant use traffic as an excuse!

pss. do skylines and passport rev their engine next to you at the light?

threpwood, are your seating surfaces leather? The photos almost make them look like suade. Nice car.

threpwood 11-02-2005 06:27 PM

Appreciate the compliments. Only the seating surfaces are suede. Other parts on the seat are leather.

Bought it used for 6 million yen. It had 5000 km, power seat, seat warmer, navigation, and cd changer.

New S (987) costs about 8 million yen and new boxster (987) costs about 7 million yen. I couldn't wait 6 months to get a 987 one made and import it here, so I was looking for a used one and luckily found the one that I wanted (it was the only S with low milage, silver and with enough opts -- hence the tiptronic)

Cars especially GM made cars do depreciate quickly here, but Porsche is an exclusion because I think people considered it as an 'exotic' car and perhaps fits into the environment (small street, tight corners, etc).

I had Skyline and WRX with Turbo rev their engine next to mine at the light. WRX was FAST, but skyline was disappointing :)

threpwood, so based on current exchange rates (yesterday 116.8) that's:
$51,370 US dollars.

Six months ago, that would have cost $57,143 dollars (105.00)!!

yep, yen drops against other currencies these days. I hope that will increase the number of boxsters
