dashboard lights

Just bought a 2000 boxster not too long ago.
Have a question regarding the dashboard instrument panel. Is there a separate lighting group for lighting the analog portion (right now its completely dark) or the digital display is the only lights available for night driving?
In the user manual there is some brief description about setting the brightness of the dashboard with one of the knobs but I don't seem to be able to do anything with it other then resetting my trip-meter.
Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

I think you just need to wait until it's dark tonight, turn on your headlamps, and twist the right knob to the right and hold it there. Pushing it in yeilds a trip odometer reset. Twisting it left dims and twisting it right brightens the dash lights up.

There's only 3 bulbs in the back of the unit and each illuminates the analog and the digital for that circle. Check my link below to see the back and you'll see the lamp plugs in the back (in my photo the far left one was replaced and is cream colored and the other two are black)

Thanks Randall - that's more detail then I ever expected.
