Advice on must have upgrades for a newbie
I'm new to the boxster world, I just got my '99 last week (black, gray, gray). I'm interested in making some upgrades to the car and I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on some of your favorite (or least favorite) enhancements/upgrades for the boxster (exhaust, chip, interior/exterior etc.). One thing I know I want to replace is the stock mushroom cap shifter, the boot on mine is a little worn. Anyone have any suggestions on a good aftermarket one? Or should I stick with a factory replacement.
TIA, Chris |
Forget the performance-enhancements.. Search through the tech forum and you'll see numerous examples of people who have paid thousands for little gain. If you do want to go that route, use a reputable tuner who will guarantee their claims or refund your money.

Fuel. You are required to put One Hundred Tanks of fuel through your car _with the top DOWN_ before you're allowed to modify it (page 617 of the owners manual) :)

my favorite upgrade visualy has been side skirting. Makes the car look 100% better. Here's a nice pic of some side skirting at work from one of the site sponsors
http://986online.com/images/deptlogos/boxlogo.gif my favorite upgrade driver's perspective, have been the GT3 seats. I feel like I'm in racing car not just a sportscar. But 99% of the world would hate getting out these seats. Just a weekend driver for me. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member.../789415_41.jpg My most disapointing upgrade have been Litronics(HID). Not worth the cash. The car investment I get the most comfort from it the Valentine One. And the Carrera 5 spokes are one upgrade I never tire at admiring. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...15_30_full.jpg |
a great sound system if its not in there already and if you like tunes - whatever its called the subwoofer and speakers in the back - Bose premium sound etc. oh yes side skirting, it looks great and agree makes the car look so much better
