09 vs 07 base
2 boxster bases similarly equipped: 09 ,25k mi,cpo at porsche dealer,$34k
07 , 4600mi, 1 yr cpo(due to prior sale) at porsche dealer $32k 07 obviously has lower miles, maintenance appears to have been done very little car use 09 haven't seen maintenace record yet, 1 owner, (dealer advertises female whatever that means), but would this car be coming up to expensive maintenace-30k service, tires, brakes, etc? for cars with cpo from dealer is a ppi needed? thanks. |
The 09 would have the Direct Fuel Injected 9A-1 engine, that would be worth 2K to me, 255 hp, very smooth also deletes the IMS.
|
09, no IMS, do all the major stuff and you know it is good and have peace of mind... will definitely pay for that tho. Brakes/Tires etc have more to do with how it was driven/year vs. mileage?
|
IMHO, IMSB (current retrofit and forthcoming solution) will cost between $1.5K and $2.5K out the door so price difference between '07 and '09 is effectively $0. PPI both for the report, if it isn't already available to you, so you know all you need to know about each car. If still no difference, buy the one you like best.

As the above poster says there is no IMS on 2009 and newer. Confirm that it is a 2009! I would get a ppi with an indy shop just to make sure there are no problems.
Any accidents? Check service history. Find out reason for the sale. Do not be in a hurry. Walk if you don't get what u want. I am sure it is a buyers market. |
Those are both good prices. The 09 if still in almost new condition would be a great car. How much a year will you be driving. I just got a 2007 Base with 7k miles and it is awesome. Your decision would be a hard one for me. I would lean toward the 09 after PPI, if the condition is great, and I don't drive that many miles (I keep cars such a short time that I have to take resale in mind...just me though). The 07 is a new car, that's why I got mine, it is sweet to drive an 07 as it would be off the showroom floor 6 years ago.
Which are you leaning toward? You will get a little more kick from the 09. The 07 is plenty peppy if wound up. |

If you'd ask me, I'd buy the 09. Good luck.

255 HP is good for a car at this weight. The S2000 had 240 HP. At autcross those cars have an extra kick coming off braking and out of slow corners. Much more lively than similar weight cars but with less power. The power is also good for highway merging and passing. The average sedan and minivan today has enough power to make themselves annoying.
sounds like you have the right year and engine here. |
I'd go with the 09 as well. I love my 2009 non-s. I really enjoy the PDK since I don't have too much of a background with a manual transmission.
