19" wheels

Does anyone have any information on 19" wheel upgrades? I have a 98 box and I'm not sure if: #1. it's going to fit, #2. how it will affect the ride and handling. I read somewhere that 19 inch wheels were NOT recommended for 97 and 98 boxsters, but from 99 and up it was okay. Should I do this? Any information would be appreciated!

Hi,

19's are not recommended for your Model Year, nor are they a very good compromise to anything but aesthetics.

You'll increase Unsprung Weight, Tires are more costly, the ride will be Bone-Jarring, twitchy steering.

18's offer the best compromises. Performance and Ride do not suffer and they fill out the Wheel Wells nicely. My recommendation: Go for 18's instead.

I agree with MN. I test drove a Box with the 19" and ended up purchasing the 18". Aesthetics is right on the money, however the ride left much to be desired. People comment on how tight and smooth the ride is with 18". For some reason...none of that quite sounded right

People track boxsters with 18"s instead of 19"s for a reason you know
