Is it normal for oil "dripping" sound after a short run?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if it is normal for the oil dripping sound after driving. I am not leaking oil or anything. It seems that whether I drive 1 mile or 100 miles, when I turn the car off, I hear dripping in the pan. I was used to this with my Bimmer but only after a spirited or longer drive.
The Porsche engine seems to do this frequently. My buddy with a 911 said his does this and he attributes it to the design of the engine and the oil system.

Just curious?
What a great weekend for the top down by the way!

Thanks,
Joe

The "dripping" noise is caused by the Cat. Conv. normally cooling off after you turn off the engine. This "noise" is common in all cars with Cat. Converters and is not inherent with the Horizontal configuration of Porsche Engines
