Cayman is growing on me...
I have visited the P-website numerous times I am really starting to like the Cayman. I think it would look really sharp with the wheels that are featured in the gallery (the ones with 15 or so spokes) or a set of Turbo wheels. How would you configure yours?

Excellence-great Cayman S piece
The magazine Excellence just did a piece on CaymanS and it is an excellent piece I think the most revealing so far. It does confirm the fact that the Cayman was actually quicker than the 3.6 997 by 4 seconds on the Nurburgring Ring and it also bested the Boxster S by 7 ticks. I quote " GT & RS models aside, the new Cayman is the best handling production Porsche". Maybe a targa version would excite me but for me now, the Boxster rules. The Boxster is its purest form the true Porsche the sports car that Dr. Porsche would want to associate with. Exquisite lines with a timeless design and add handling that is out of this world.

I agree. If the Cayman ever comes in a Targa- or even with a moonroof- I would be very tempted to buy one.

HI,
I think the Cayman is going to pose some issues for Porsche. The venerable 911 (aka 997) may slip from it's vaunted position in the Porsche Line-up.
It might even be that Porsche drops it altogether keeping the Speed Variants (TT, GT2, GT3) for the Fat Cats, or continues on the trend to turn it into a 'Luxo' Cruiser (because the Cab sells so well).
If a base Cayman and Panamerica are added, it's going to be a pretty hefty line-up for a Medium sized Manufacturer to manage. It's even possible that the 987 will be dropped with no successor in the future.
Of course, all this is speculation. But, one thing for sure, it's gonna be interesting...

4 seconds on the 997 at N-Ring?!
Holy cow that's HUGE. Did it say what kind of Rubber each was on?
Can't wait to see what RUF will do with a CaymanS.
A car that handles as well as CGT with RUF power? scary.

Still an aweful name for a sports car! Sounds kinda wussy for a mean, lean, speed machine!

I am still quite surprised that no one has produced a picture of the Cayman logo photoshopped to say "Gayman".

Hahaha nice! The purple's a nice touch, although now we need a rainbow-colored one.

It's a deusy...
So if someone asks what you're driving, you could respond smugly "It's a croc..."
987SC works for me.
Pan America?
Coupester?
550 Spyder Hardtop?
Coupe de Box?
Tough one, this, I'm coming up dry...
Author's note: The car rocks, I'd love to have one.

the new Excellence has an extensive piece on the CaymanS (in yellow) and they say they were blown away about how good the car is. They say the car could easily handle 350 HP (a monster!) but that Porsha won't because "it will upset the status quo (read embarass the 911)"

The same reason Excellence said there would never be a turbo Boxster. The 911 crowd has already been PO'd for years that the Boxster looks pretty much the same from the front so passers-by can't tell they are in the more expensive 911.
