Houston Area Boxsters!!!!

I am looking for Houston Area Boxsters!! The weather is perfect for evening drives around the Houston area. If you own a Boxster in Houston speak now or forever hold your....

RandallNeighbour 11-15-2012 11:46 AM

I live in Houston. I can't drive anywhere this weekend, but I may be able to do a little early Saturday morning driving next weekend, the 24th.

Age008 11-15-2012 05:45 PM

Thats great! Hopefully we can get a few more!

Saterday drive

I'm in Houston what do you have in mind?
I'm in the Meyerland area.

RandallNeighbour 11-18-2012 07:13 PM

We could meet up and drive out to Brenham...

Spinnaker 11-18-2012 07:42 PM

You guys are only 170 miles from the first F1 race in the U.S. in 5 years and you didn't go!!!? Disgraceful......

Age008 11-19-2012 07:42 PM

Brenham sounds good!! I see that we would have four of us... I wish we could atleast three more!!!

boxster6354 11-20-2012 03:11 AM

I am out next week on holiday but would be up for a run or two in the Houston area.

I am NE of Houston in Kingwood.

RandallNeighbour 11-20-2012 04:08 AM

Unfortunately, my car is not in shape for a run this Sat. I've been working on it every night, but have a lot more to do before I head to the track in two weeks.

l3m 11-20-2012 06:11 AM

What time are you guys thinking of? I might be able to join you if it's midday. I'm in the NW area.

RandallNeighbour 11-20-2012 07:49 AM

While I won't be able to join you guys this time, let me say that I've driven the box around that area in the mornings and afternoons. Afternoons is not a good idea for the following reasons:

In the early mornings before 10 am, you will have cyclists and bikers to contend with and a tractor or two. No big deal.

After 10 am, you have all of the above plus soccer moms, more farmers in pickups, and LEOs o'plenty.

[Side Note: always let the lead car have the best radar detector in the pack. Last time I went out I was with a Turbo and two BoxS's and a 911. Of course, the bigger the motor the further out front they were from me, the lowly 2.5 in the bunch.

I had the V1 and the alarm went off as the Turbo and the 911 were both popped for 112 and 95 (respectively) in a 50 mph zone. The county cop said he would have busted all of us but didn't have time to shoot his radar at all five cars.

He said he was being "extremely generous" to us by writing the tickets for 74 mph so as not to arrest the two drivers for reckless driving.]

Additionally, it's not that close to Brenham, but if you drive FM 105 (Industry, TX) down from 290 and then take whatever that road is to San Felipe, Texas (located a mile north of I-10 near Sealy... google map it and you'll see the FM road... 2920????) there is a lovely bit of road with nice sweepers, which is about as twisty as we get around here.

Or, you guys can stay in town and just drive what I call "the loop":

Beginning at Shepherd, turn onto Memorial and take it downtown and drive south to Allen Parkway and come back to Shepherd. Do it early enough and you'll have the roads mostly to yourself with very few cops.

Time and money friend. Time and money. I have too little of both.

Age008 11-22-2012 08:43 PM

I do not have a radar detector. If we can get five cars, we can rally at Memorial park and take a short drive to Kemah and return??? Im free for Saturday.

What I can tell you as being ex law enforcement, speed alone does not constitute reckless driving. There must be other factors involved. For example driving on the shoulder at a high rate of speed would be a willing candidate for reckless driving.

l3m 12-05-2012 02:13 AM

Anybody want to meet up this weekend? Let's take advantage of this good weather.

Age008 12-05-2012 04:26 PM

This weekend would be great. I was thinking about taking I-10 to 146 to Texas City and end in Galveston at the sea wall. Thoughts?

l3m 12-05-2012 06:17 PM

Weather permitting. My car's afraid of the rain. Gotta have the top down.

Here's another option. About 125-150 miles.

- 249 NORTH to 149 NORTH.
- Turn RIGHT onto 149 NORTH.
- Turn RIGHT onto 1375 EAST.
- Turn LEFT onto 75 NORTH *only go 1 block to 150 EAST!
- Turn RIGHT onto 150 EAST.
- Turn RIGHT onto 1725.
- Turn LEFT onto 105 EAST.
- Turn RIGHT onto 59 SOUTH.

l3m 12-08-2012 06:43 AM

Come to the Starbucks at 11am today if you can. 2 other forum members will be there.

boxster6354 12-08-2012 01:32 PM

Hey Lou and Francisco, great to meet you both today, was a fun get together (even if Lou got us lost)

Look forward to more weekends.

Travis

RandallNeighbour 12-08-2012 03:36 PM

Wish I could have gone with you guys. No brakes! I went to the track and well, I drove the car like it was stolen.

Can't wait for the next run though. Keep me in the loop!

Nice meeting you, Travis, and what a great day for top-down cruising.

I checked the map and 150 was maybe 3 more exits from when we turned around. :D

Randall, looking forward to seeing you at the next one.

Adrian, we'll see you at the next one as well.
