Video of drop link... I think I found my "clunk"!
 

Okay guys, I think I found the source of my clunk! I was able to tighten the right droplink a bit... (The left droplink did not have any play) But my question... Is it shot or do you think tightening it up will fix it permanently? I have yet to test drive because we're having a thunderstorm at the moment.

That is an easy and relatively cheap place to start but I didn't see that much play in the video.

A big clunk over bumps is usually the main lower control arm bushings. They might seem tight when pulled on by hand but try putting the car on jackstands and then raising the suspension using a floor jack and check the smoothness of the rear LCA operation through its travel. If its rough or grindy, then that is your problem.

+1, it's the control arm. I had similar clunk before and I replaced the drop link, sway bushings, did not cure anything. I changed the track control arms and no more clunk. I got it from **************************************** for $149 with $50 core. Nice to see another member from Illinois.

Okay guys... The rain dried up so I took advantage of this N Illinois November 70deg day and drove my Boxster after tightening the droplink... And guess what... After a few years of the rattle it is GONE!!! I guess in retrospect it was always a rattle and not a clunk! So the ONLY thing left to do this winter is fix my fuel sender!!! Everything else is perfect for now:)

Good news! Always nice to find an easy fix to a vexing problem.

Yep! Went from thinking its going to be $400+ in parts to only a turn of a wrench:) good day!
