Question about drivers window?

Hi, I have a 2001 Boxster 2.7. I recently had a new window regulator installed on the drivers side. It was installed by a mechanic I know. He's good but not a Porsche specialist. Since then the window still drops when you open the door but only half the distance than before, this means that it catches the roof.

Any ideas what it could be? Or what I need to do to sort it?

The window drops as it should when the catch is undone on the roof. The regulator was not genuine but from a Porsche specialist. I have tried the different sequences for re-setting the windows but it makes no difference. The passenger side behaves as it should!

Any help or advice to get this sorted would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Take a look at this. It looks like the window wasn't installed correctly into the regulator, but not sure. Do a search, there are other DIYs out there.

if you can push down the window with little force, then the regulator may have excessive slop

Didn't want to start an entirely new thread, as my question is related. Mine decided to make the "grinding" noises today... ugh.. it's always something with this car!

anyways... i'm going to replace the regulator, but want to make sure I get the right one. Is the driver's side "left" or "right" when shopping around?

is this the right part number? 996 542 076 04 (I need a driver's side regulator)

Could very well be the regulator having some play in it which I've seen quite a few times, but like mentioned earlier if the window was removed the replace the motor then it might not be slid down into the regulator all the way...
