How stiff is your gas pedal?
Yeah I know the usual topic is the clutch ... I had my transmission redone and my clutch is fine tho definitely stiffer than most other cars I have driven. Question tho...how stiff are people's gas pedals? I have found mine to be relatively stiff..makes slow driving in first gear a little but annoying sometimes, and on say long drives more than a few hours my right foot can actually get a little tired. Wondering if this is normal...

Not here
Mine is one of the softer I've driven over the years. If I just breathe on it I find I'm looking for red and blue lights in the rear view mirror.

Mines a bit stiff, I find if I put the heel of my foot right against the bottom of the pedal, the pedal action is smoother.

My pedal is fairly stiff. First gear control is fairly sensitive. I use the cruise control on long trips to avoid an aching leg.

Ever since I spilled some Levitra on my pedal, it's super stiff .

My clutch is extremely stiff and I'm on the same boat as you after a couple of hours I just can't drive anymore I'm beginning to find this extremely annoying.

Pretty stiff gas pedal on my P. Makes driving away smoothly in first gear quite a challenge. I did clean the pedal assembly last week and put some WD40 on the cable, but still stiff. Next up is cleaning the throttle body. See of that helps.

Why would you have that stuff just "lying around"? I thought Danger would be around laying, not the other way around. Guess even the best have to get their "gun on". My gas pedal is a little stiffer than I like it, but it has served me well. No problem getting the "Rs" up quick! Guess I'm still young, tho. |

First thing to know is car year to figure out whether it's egas or not. I can't remember what year went to egas, was it 03? To bear, WD40 is OK but there are far superior lubricants to keep handy, break free is a good one as you can clean handguns with it as well. I would repeat the process with a better spray. To JD, levitra is a pretty obscure reference my friend! Most people shoot the big V! Levitra once gave out fake rocks that said "levitra" on em! They were drug rep leave behinds as paper weights, hilarious!

My car is 2003. The pedal isn't so stiff that I really super notice it like a clutch pedal...but I use the ball of my foot A lot so for extended drives it gets tired. Gas is definitely sensitive. Sounds like my car is normal. I do believe the 03 has the egas driven throttle body not the pulley system.

Thanks Ghostrider! I know there are better products, but I had this laying around. ;)
Mine is a 02 egas, which makes lubricating the gas pedal a bit harder. I've noticed that the gas pedal assembly itself has a lot of resistance as well. Don't know why Porsche ever choose this system, because a lot of people have crappy gas pedals, which makes some 986/996's hard to drive. |
