Hi; yes I did.
I got rid of about 95% of the noise.
I removed the whole unit (rather than just the lens which as far as I could tell is not removable) as in Thom's photo above. I just used a kitchen knife to pry it out. There are no wires or connections to worry about.
I then used some speaker foam I happened to have lying around which is convenient as it is sticky back. I used this to pad where the unit clips in. This mostly fixed the problem.
The other 5% I think is actually coming from the lens part and whilst this is now only a very minor and occasional irritation I do intend to take the whole unit and go around the underside of the lens with superglue.

When I get round to taking it off again I'll add some pictures.
