987 front on 986 - what do I need..??

Hallo,

I have seen the 997 front convension, but the lights are imposibel to get in Europa unless I will pay $2000 on Ebay...

I have 987 lights in stock, but what about the convension, does the original 987 parts fit the 986 (fenders, bumper, hood) or what do I need....???

Hope somebody can help me....

I have seen aftermarket fiberglass bumper, fender, and hood that can convert a 986 to a 987. I never inquired the price but they must be worth more than a zeintop. >$2000

I have not seen anyone modify OEM 987 parts to fit a 986 but like I said, for enough money anything can be done. Depends on how much money you want to spend on this project.

Somebody did this a few years ago with his silver 986. Had the parts list and all. Turned out great! I cannot think of the guy's screen name. I'm sure some of the guys from a few years ago will be able to pull it up.

Are you referring to Jeph Kryzak and his conversion of Foxy? It was a very tastefully done front end conversion from 986 to 996:
http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/9114-official-986-996-front-end-conversion-thread.html

I think the dimensions for a 987 are different so some fabrication may be required to line up all the panels. Jeph's bolt-on 986/996 front end conversion was $7K.

You nailed it! I don't know why I was thinking it was a 987, but I looked for that thread for about fifteen minutes last night with no luck. Glad you were able to pull it up. Man, that looks good.

Now that you've clarified that it's a 986 to 996 conversion, and not a 986 to 987, that you're interested in, you'll have to change the front fenders in order to accommodate the 996 front bumper and headlights .
