Who's Humping???

Got your attention. LOL

What are people general thoughts on speedster humps? I may pick up a pair tomorrow that are already painted my color. Any thoughts?

paintboy 08-30-2012 01:52 PM

kinda ugly ....

tonycarreon 08-30-2012 02:20 PM

not a fan. they look fine on the spyder, but it was designed for them. they just look out of place otherwise.

jb92563 08-30-2012 02:26 PM

If I really wanted a Pontiac Solstice or Batmobile instead of a Boxster then fine.

Don't care for those Humps really. They just dont quite have the right look to my eye.

I'd sooner get new front bumper air dam or wide look panels to make it look like a track racer (Not a street racer)

Thats just my taste so really you should do what makes you smile.

There will be as many opinions on this as there are people who own Boxsters.

Even asking the SO what she likes is a big mistake....your toy...your choice!

JAAY 08-30-2012 02:35 PM

So far 0-3

I really am going by this by the way. I have Zero judgement in my old age.:ah:

ekam 08-30-2012 02:35 PM

They look nice with a complete body kit, otherwise they odd on a stock car IMO.

JAAY 08-30-2012 02:36 PM

BTW. Hell yea I want the batmobile!

JAAY 08-30-2012 02:37 PM

I kinda like how the look on this red 986.

My vehicle came with the factory "speedster kit". I hated them from both an aesthetic point of view, as well as a design one. I found them to be not only goofy looking, but they were a total pain in the a** to put on and take off. In fact, if one isn't very careful installing them, you run the risk of scratching or denting the tonneau cover. Also, good luck if you're caught in rain . Not only are they a total pain in the a** to stow, it's like a Chinese fire drill trying to get them off and the top up asap.

*I have nothing against Asian people, it's just a phrase . My 5th wife was actually a geisha .

0-5. Danger counts for two.

bar10dah 08-30-2012 03:04 PM

I wouldn't put one on my car, but I do like the way the car looks with them on.

So............Not really sure what that means.

boxster6354 08-30-2012 03:58 PM

I bought a set of OEM Speedster humps a bit back and have yet to get them painted and put them on my car.

So if anyone is interested :o

I wouldn't put one on my car = I have no interest in sporting one for myself. Not due to cost. Not due to difficulty of installing one. I just don't find them interesting enough to warrant myself strapping a speedhump to the back of my Boxster.

I do like the way the car looks with them on = However, the general appearance of a Boxster with speedhumps on it does "fit" the look and complements the car nicely. While I wouldn't say they 'complete the look', they do look right on the car.

Sheesh, Jaay.... ;)

Or, are you referring to your "poll?"

Score is 0-5-1. 0 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw.

JAAY 08-30-2012 04:47 PM

Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the poll update. I do have the luxury of trying them out first. So pics and thoughts to come tomorrow.

BruceH 08-30-2012 06:37 PM

I thought about them briefly for mine as well, but in the end I prefer the look without. Plus the PITA factor weighs heavily when a sudden rain begins.

Skrapmot 08-30-2012 06:46 PM

Like the look, but again, the PITA factor...My top goes up and down too much.

ryanwise 08-30-2012 06:55 PM

I like mine. Lots of compliments. If I had to drive it every day...........I'd probably not have them on as much....but here in Florida, Nov-Feb..............Sunny every day.

thstone 08-30-2012 07:24 PM

Maybe on a speedster from the factory but as an aftermarket add-on... uh, no.

RandallNeighbour 08-30-2012 08:16 PM

I like mine too. But they're rubbing off the rubberized paint at the base of the clamshell where it meets the top material. :(

Mark_T 08-31-2012 12:08 PM

No story - just a funny photoshop job by a buddy of mine.

Wait... you didn't think that was real, did you?

JAAY 08-31-2012 12:45 PM

Well I went and laid them on. They don't look too bad on my car. They were aftermarket though and could use some work so they stayed with the owner. Sorry for the iphone pics.

Wow, not too much love for the humps. Before I bought mine, the first question I asked was, "can those ugly things be taken off???". But now that I've had the car a couple of years, they have grown on me. Yup, they're a PITA to take on and off, but mine stay on all the time (my Boxster is a summer fun car). And kind of a unique look. I have yet to see another Boxster with humps in my area. Mine are OEM, but they look just like the ones above. So one vote for yes. And I think those look good on your car.
