Hard Top

Just a quick question of any of you that have the hard top. How are you storing this. I have limited space in the garage and am looking for some tips as how you may have stored your hard top.

My hardtop rarely comes off, partly because I have no room for it, and I think it looks better than the soft top. But, I got a generic hard top cart and cover from automotion. I also got an electric hoist, but never got around to installing it. I've heard the top will distort if left hanging for long. Without the hoist, removing and replacing the hardtop is a 2 man job, unlike my 911 targa and 914.

I've had mine on a hoist for about 5 summers, and I haven't noticed any distortion.

This photo was taken before I had a cover for it. I like that the top is off the floor and protected from possible damage.

I still have a helper when I install or remove the top. I could put my Miata hardtop on by myself, but it was smaller and lighter.

i have a folding stand with castors for the hard tops - about £50 ($75) from fleabay and just found a fitted cover with the porsche logo for £35, so bought two of those as well (not official porsche ones, copies) from the same auction site.

;)

Thanks for the info, I finally made a rack for the wall of the garage that resembles the stand in the owners manual.
