What's the pipe running underneath the car on the right hand side between the 2 blue lift clamps? Has it got to do with the ac system ? It's cracked on mine and ac is not cooling.

AC low pressure return line. a lot of them get crimped (usually when an unknowing shop tries to lift the car and doesn't use the proper jack points), but as long as it's not totally pinched it should still cool. if it's cracked, that's probably your issue with the AC.

i was quoted $765 in '09 at the stealership to replace/repair.

Yes its cracked, in fact that area looks to be damp and it tests positive for the A/C dye using UV light. Any idea if the cracked part can be cut off and a new one welded?

Seems quite common these days.

The pipe can be cut and a straight crimped in, but you need an AC engineer with the tools.

The whole pipe is about £100... but its not a nice job to replace the pipe as it joins at the rear wheel and then up at the windscreen scuttle, so you need to empty out the wheel well and feed the pipe up there.

I will go to my mechanic, he is also an AC engineer and have him sort it out. Pity that I'm missing using my AC unit in this heat.

I decided to replace the whole thing to be on the safe side. Do you guys happen to have the part #?

You need part 10 or 6. Make sure to look at the remark column to select to correct part number for you year model.
