Mystery line - Need help identifying
Today, I pulled my battery to have it tested and found the following fluid line laying disconnected in the battery tray. At first, I thought it was for washer fluid, but that connects on the driver's (left) side of the car. I traced this back as far as I could, and it appears to be coming into the frunk near the cabin air filter. Does anyone have any idea what it is for, and where it should be connected? I couldn't find any obvious connection points for this. This is on an '02 Boxster S.
Thanks for your help!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1344116299.jpg |
battery vent
there should be a small hole in the top/side of the battey. the plastic 90-degree adapter fits on there so that gases can escape. in this pic, it's in the midline (just back of the "made in germany"), on the side of the battery, passenger side. http://industryfigure.com/berkeley/P...mages/bat1.jpg |
Some batteries do not have a vent hole. If that is the case with your battery, just tie wrap the vent tube back out of the way so its not flopping around and keep it in case you get a battery in the future that has a vent hole.

Thank you both. In 22 years of changing my own batteries, I have never encountered this before. I learn something new here every single day.
