Actually oil overfill is a lot more common than you might think and it's the fastest way to kill your AOS. Some of the reasons:

1. Not getting the car level when draining.
2. Not allowing enough time for a complete drain.
3. Not measuring refill carefully.

I always refill with 8.5qts at first and drive the car a bit. Re-check and top off when the car is level and the gauge countdown has timed out.
