Rattle in the dash

Out of nowhere, after a quiet,uneventful drive yesterday, I have a new most annoying rattle emanating from the front dash in the vicinity of the center console or maybe around the steering wheel. It' s especially noticeable on hitting bumps at low speed. Not thrilled about ripping apart the dash in search of the culprit- anyone have a simpler problem and solution?

I try to miss annoying rattle causing bumps!

Seriously, you may want to pull the lower center section and take a look there.
