Jack Pad for 2006 Boxster S
All,
I am interested is doing my own oil changes and have the following questions. 1. Jack Pad for the floor jack. What fits the 987S and where is it available? 2. Oil filter part numbers and O-ring? 3. Oil filter wrench tool part number? I have seen various oil change info in the FAQ's but all of them refer to the 986. Thanks in advance Darius |
My jack pad arrives this Friday
I ordered a jack pad for my box from Pelican Parts. It will arrive this Friday and cost a about $69 or so plus shipping. I can give a report on how good it works after I get it.
This is my first order from Pelican (getting a Silver hood crest and BMC intake air filter also) and although I have no history with these guys yet, I have to say they communicate very well and update me quickly with any new info on availability and ship and expected arrival dates. A nice bit of customer service that has me feeling pretty good about them already. |
Cool, thanks
Let me know how the pad works out.

I use a hockey puck (literally) as a jack pad for my Boxster. Works great, tough enough to support the car but soft enough to not dent/scratch.

Looking to changer my oil and filter when the Box comes out of hibernation. Is there any other information to share here? Do the wenches (74mm, 14 flutes, Hazet 2169), oil filters (996 107 225 52) and floor jack pads (Pelican) that fit the 986 also fit the 987S?
Thanks |

Darius, if you look on-line, like at www.suncoastporsche.com, they have the oil filter and O ring listed as the same for all Boxsters from 1997-2006. The price is $13.45. They also list the wrench cap for $29.95. They don't list part numbers, or I would have copied them over for you. Sorry. |
I have this pad and it works great espcecially for 20 bucks. Plus, this will work on most modern cars including the 987 and 911's.

Hi,
I've tried several of the Jackpads available and found a couple of the wanting, gave them away. I found the biggest problem to be that the others increase the height of the Jack too much, little or no clearance to get it under the Car. The best one I've found is the one sold by Pelican Parts. But, the same one is available right now on eBay (from the Guy who Invented it) for a BIN Price of $50+ S/H see it at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-Boxster-996-Jack-Pad-Tool_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43994QQitemZ460952 1131QQrdZ1 Hope this helps... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
50 bucks for that? And Pelican sells it for 70? It's a hocky puck with a metal pin in it. It's not even the right shape. Last time I checked the hole was oval not round. lol......
