Top up and down at what temps?
Last Sunday, it was close to 90 when i decided to head for home. I have not set a 'Put the top up" temperature yet. I do usually wait until it's 64 out to put it down. I drove home with it down. It was hot sitting at a light in the sun I have to admit.
Your top down temp is: Your top up temp is: my down is 64 my up should be 90 dan |
My car has a heater and A/C. Everytime I drive my Boxster the top is down.
|
I don't go by temp, I go by feel. If I start feeling like its too damn hot, up the top goes. On comes the A/C. Baking on black leather seats is not my idea of fun. I actually prefer it cooler with the top down. So its just comfortable. Night time is great for top down driving in the summer, or early morning.

living in southern texas I can tell you when its above 90 top is up; below 90 top down ! which basically means in the summer I only drive with it down in the evenings !
|
It's a bit mood dependant, but generally between 50 and 90+ . If it's 50 I may have the heat on, and the A/C if it's hot and humid.
|
55+ down
99+ down +ac +straw covboy hat |
Top is always down - never too hot, never too cold. Unless its raining.
|
Top down: 50 degrees
Top up: Haven't found it yet. Living in NW Indiana / Chicago area, I am definetely buying some sunscreen though. I got cooked yesterday. One more day of these temps, and I'll look like a piece of bacon. Mmmmm.... bacon |

Top Down: 28F (snow free)
Top Up: When parked or when above 104F and the wife is with me. |
Wtf. Boxsters have tops?!
|
Top only comes down at temps of 35-75f. Anything over that and the top is up with ac blasting! Basically top up all summer. :)
Heat sucks and a bit of wind or blasting the ac with it down just isn't enough for me. |

One of the best Boxster pictures ever! |
Last Friday it was 109 on the beltway in Virginia. I drove 45 miles to my destination w/ the top down. I was melting by the time I got there. I put the top up and the A/c on for the ride home. Probably wouldn't have been bad if I could have cruised, but the traffic was rough and it was stop and go for an hour +.

Dubai
I went diving last weekend, left at 06:30 - its a 2 hour drive to Sandy Beach diving center. Had the roof off all the way, but by the time we got there it was close to 42 Deg C (108 Deg F) and was a bit warm. Even with the air on we were feeling it.
Few weeks ago I was in Abu Dhabi - 45 Deg C (113 Deg F). Roof went up and a/c on full that day. Winter is great though - rarley gets below 15 Deg C (59 Deg F) so roof off all the time. Cheers, Simon |
Top goes up when I wash it and down when I drive it.

If it is not raining the top is down. The only problem I had was the plastic windows can get brittle with age. Mine split when I lowered the top at about 50 degrees. Now has a glass window and I don't worry about it.
|
Top-down when it's not raining.. any temp is good.
Top-up.. it never gets to 90 in Seattle so I close the top only when there's water pouring from above:) This winter I drove top down in 30F and it was suprisingly warm inside Sasha |
I would roll top down in the winter, but I'm too scared of my plastic window breaking. Luckily, when it's too cold, it's usually accompanied with snow and therefore salt so it doesn't get driven too often in that weather.
|
Top down unless it's raining.
|
I only put the top down at night since I get more privacy. 70 F degrees and warmer.
I like driving with the top down at night, but during the day I keep the top up to stay cool and avoid sunburn/skin cancer and avoid people from starring at me. |
Is that what that is behind the seat?

I love driving with the top down in winter(assuming no snow/salt). Cold weather is the greatest!!! Summer sucks. Heat sucks. No "dry heat" here. :( |
I agree with the other posters - the top only goes up when it's raining. Or, rarely, when the trip is so short that there's no point waiting to raise it at the other end. Cold weather? That's what heaters, heated seats, scarves and hats were invented for.
