Fuel question

I have seen several posts on Octane ratings of gas, however, I have not seen a post on the advantages/disadvantages(particulary in performance) of using fuel that contains ethanol compared to standard gas. Where I live there are a few stations that have 10% ethanol alcohol in the fuel. I have used 93 Oct fuel with the ethanol and it seems to run just fine but I was wondering if the standard 93 would be a better choice. Thanks.
