How many miles on your clutch ? (986)

(986 owners).

How many miles do you have on your clutch ?

Is it the original still as far as you know, or have you swapped it ?

Model year ?

Base or S ?

Input appreciated.

62k miles. Bought the car with 19k miles and haven't done the clutch yet, so (assuming the PO wasn't an absolute beast on clutches ) it would appear to be the original.

2001S model

1997 Base
Original Clutch
83k miles. PO was an OLD MAN! In his defense I drive like that too. LOL
Still feels great though.:D

99 base 93k miles never tracked Do not know how long the clutch will last. I drive it easy and so did the last owner. We both are mid-life oldies who take Centrum Silver daily.

83 k on my 2002 s but the pedal is pretty stiff is that a sign to replace or are they normally pretty tight?

97 with ~48k on it. Bought it with 40k 2 years ago, and I'm assuming the clutch was never done because the car was bought previously with 25k, driven to 40k, and left to sit. Mostly highway/turnpike cruising duty on it, a fair amount of short work commuting, and 3 autocrosses in as many months just recently. If it makes it to 60k I'll be happy with that...I'm admittedly not very nice to it because I like to give the car a good run, while the previous owners probably left it to Sunday drive duty.

'00S w/42k, original clutch but is a little stiff and makes a squeeeek noise from back in the trans area. It engages fine soooooo????

2000 w 126k miles. Clutch has just the slightest bit of intermittent chatter/vibration if launched from a stop below about 1800 RPM, otherwise smooth as silk. Has been doing it since I got the car 10k miles ago.

Original clutch -'99 Base with 115,000 klms , I'm pretty easy on a clutch 'till the Metamucil kicks in.

Absolute funniest thing I have seen all day. Thank you for the laughter, I needed it. :D:cheers:

90K on a 98' with zero issues...but I will be changing it here in the next few months when I do a suspension replacement.

thstone 06-04-2012 02:24 PM

92K miles before replacement in 2011. 1999 base.

2001 Boxster 2.7. 40k miles. Slight judder from start
with low revs. but okay with higher revs. Has slight leak in rms. Will drive this 5 speed/clutch till it falls apart or IMSGuardian warning goes off whichever comes first, then the clutch gets replaced.

Kenny Boxster 06-04-2012 02:33 PM

78k miles 2000 2.7l 5 speed. Original clutch but it is toast! I am changing it as soon as I get the parts in three days. Here's the backstory; wanted to see if boxster had wheel spin; revved to 7000 rpm and dumped the clutch. :o As a result, the clutch slips 200rpm before finally going into gear. I think it had maybe another 10,000 miles on it before it needed to be changed if I had not done that; the car was a city driver.

Perfectlap 06-04-2012 03:02 PM

^ My clutch let go at ~70K too. Albeit at the 10 year mark.
I probably linger on the clutch too much. By far my worst habit.

rem503 06-04-2012 03:31 PM

Base Boxster, 2.7L with 27900miles, original clutch.

No slippage or chatter. The clutch engages right away. So far we've been pretty lucky with this car despite a worthless PrePurchase Inspection.

Brockmeister 06-04-2012 03:52 PM

I replaced mine at 72k and 13 years. It was still working, but I wanted to get the IMS done. The mechanic said it didn't have much longer. Needed a new flywheel too.

ohioboxster 06-04-2012 04:52 PM

I know this is going to be tough to believe, I called BS on it too. The owner swears it to be true. Not a Box but an '03 TT on the original clutch, now the car has 343k.

My 2000 S had 47xxx miles at purchase last May. Was expecting to replace clutch during IMSB surgery, but PO had already had it done. Dumbass was that deep in and didn't have IMSB and RMS swapped out while car was apart?!
